The Makalu Base camp trek is a true adventure with scenery so beautiful that it will never tire you. This place still needs your exploration to come out with true delight and entertainment provided by birds and wildlife. Due to its isolation and lack of tea houses, this region still receives few trekkers. The main habitants in this area are Sherpas, Rais and Limbus. These villages, particularly the Barun valley, treasure some of the last remaining pristine forests and alpine meadows of Nepal. From the bottom of Barun valley, at just 435 meter above the sea level, the Himalayas rise to the snow capped tip of Makalu. Makalu-Barun area contains some of the richest and most diverse pocket of plants and animal life in Nepal. Barun Valley is a sanctuary for wild animals such as Elusive Snow leopard, wolves, lynx, foxes and many other endangered animals. The trek starts with a flight to Tumlingtar and heads up the Arun River valley to Seduwa and Num, then crossing Shipton La Pass (4210 m) into the upper Barun river valley for a close look at Makalu and Chamlang Himal.
